Willow Smith, daughter of Will Smith, explains why she gave up her role as a child celebrity.
According to Willow Smith, daughter of Will Smith, she decided to leave her profession as a child celebrity to prevent herself from following a "dark road."
The singer of Memories discussed how she once believed she had "struck a grief" very early in her life during her appearance on SiriusXM's Revelations.
After experiencing success at an early age, Willow said she "wanted to be a kid" before completely exploring her career options.
"I saw the terrible path I could have gone down at a very young age," she said. I sort of checked myself before I overused my coping techniques.
Willow said, "Going into 12, I had touched a melancholy that I didn't know existed. And that was frightening.
"Because I thought, 'I've never felt like this. I need to fix this quickly before it gets any worse because this is not healthy," Willow recalled.
"Really, in my young mind,... It felt wrong, and I knew it. I simply knew it. Even though I have anxiety over my music today in my daily life, I immediately knew something was off.
She explained, "The terror is an 'upward and forwards motion' fear. It's not a profound, tragic, or otherwise terrifying fear. I simply believe that my higher self said, "No. This will turn out badly for you. I was forced to just listen.
