The commitment of King Charles to Queen Elizabeth while he was the Prince of Wales
Before becoming the Prince of Wales, King Charles III studied Welsh in university.
After he was anointed Prince of Wales at Caernarfon Castle in July 1969, King Charles vowed devotion to his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
"I, Charles, Prince of Wales, do become your liege man of life and limb," he said in his oath of loyalty.
Before being crowned at the age of 20 in a live television ceremony, King Charles III spent time studying Welsh at the institution.
The queen assisted in wrapping robes around Charles' shoulders and placing a coronet on his head during the lengthy investiture ceremony.
After Charles was made king, Prince William, who was second in line for the throne, was given the title of Prince of Wales.
Tuesday marked the first official visit to Wales by William and Kate Middleton, the newly minted Prince and Princess of Wales.
When his father, the former prince of Wales, was crowned king following the passing of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, he inherited the throne.
