Ethan Hawke's father Maya Hawke says she made him into a Swiftie.
Maya Hawke, a singer-songwriter and actor, told PEOPLE that she introduced her famous father Ethan Hawke, 51, to Taylor Swift.
The Stranger Things actress claimed that while considering her nine most formative songs for The Line of Best Fit, she heard Taylor Swift's song "Ours" from her third studio album, Speak Now.
"I have a strong memory of that song. She explained, "My dad had such a strong creative influence on me musically; he introduced me to so many songs and musicians that I still love, care about, and listen to. To be able to show him something he wasn't already aware of, took me a while.
The first Taylor Swift song I ever played for him on guitar was 'Ours. When he asked, "Who wrote that?" I responded, "Taylor Swift!" I was like, "Oh my goodness, I just presented something to my dad that he didn't know, and he likes - and I like!" when he told me he thought it was a nice song. I felt so confident because of that, Maya reflected.
She ended up going to attend Taylor Swift's Speak Now tour with her father. Sharing an experience with someone who had invested so much time and effort in developing my taste, she recalled, was "such a pleasant moment."
The father-daughter team is already preparing for the release of Swift's upcoming studio album, Midnights, on October 21st. When the announcement was made on the MTV Video Music Awards, Maya revealed that they rejoiced.
When Taylor Swift announced Midnight, he texted me saying, "Oh my gosh, Taylor Swift already has a new album coming out? I'm overjoyed! She re-released Red, and now Midnights is available? She said, "How does she do it?
Maya, whose second album Moss was released last month, recently talked to the magazine about her childhood and how her parents, Ethan and Uma Thurman, are among her best mentors.
We're always collaborating in some capacity, "She stated. "No matter if I call him and ask, "How do I do this? Help is needed. Or he could have helped me with my audition tapes. There is a functioning communication network there. More than anything else, he serves as my teacher in my eyes.
